Anyone using a Freedom V2 cpap battery backup (2024)

What is the preferred way to hookup the battery backup....

Plugging it into an outlet and then into the cpap and leaving it that way all the time.

Or just charging the battery backup and putting it in a closet until needing it.... ( hoping it has still enough juice to get you through the night )

I tried calling the number in the manual and I get the number is not a working number....

How often do you lose power?

I think the answer to that will go a long way towards answering your question.

The user manual that comes with the Freedom V2 battery says that the battery can be plugged into the wall and the machine can then be plugged into the battery. The manual does not indicate that this setup should only be used for short periods of time, but I have no idea whether such a set up might be detrimental to the battery if it was used like that permanently.

If you are worried about losing power during a specific period of severe weather, then I think it makes more sense to plug the battery into the wall at the start of the weather watches/warnings and use it that way until the weather gets better and the threat of losing power goes away. If you have the battery in the closet and you do lose power in the middle of the night, you have to wake up, find the battery and cable, and set it all up and then try to get back to sleep.

Yes I have thought of everything you said here... I was hoping for someone who is currently using this battery backup to tell how they are using it and how it well it works.....

I can tell you that on my 4 night camping trip this week my pair of Freedom V2 batteries worked great at providing all night power to my Resmed AirCurve 10. With two batteries hooked together I had plenty of power for 2 nights in a row, and I could likely have gotten a third night out of them without recharging as long as I didn't sleep a full 8 or 9 hours.

I can also say that when the first battery fully discharged, the switch to the second was seamless and did not cause me to wake up at all. This happened on the second night of usage. So it happened on both nights 2 and 4 of my camping trip. (I recharged the batteries between nights 2 and 3.)

When you are at home,. do have it hooked up to your cpap all the time, or just charge it and leave it in a closet or drawer ??

My Freedom V2 batteries are brand new bought specifically because our older ResBatt C100 batteries are not compatible with our (relatively) new AirCurve 10 machines or our replacement PR Dreamstations. (A special cord that we bought allows the older batteries to work with the DreamStations; so we're keeping those batteries around as well.)

But our power goes off so rarely that we really don't worry about. So the old ResBatt C100 batteries were stored in a closet most of time simply because we don't have problems with the power going out very often. And once we charge the batteries back up when we get around to getting everything unpacked from the camping trip, the new batteries and the old ones will both be in the closet.

If I did live in an area where power outages happened multiple times a year I would hook the battery up to the machine and plug the battery in anytime the weather forecast made it clear that there was a chance of a power outage overnight.
